When mounting AirShoxs to any bike, clearances must be considered due to
the larger diameters of parts of the shock. Ideally, check fully extended,
recheck fully collapsed. Positioning of air valves is critical to
avoid damage. Long travel laid-down Shoxs usually require top valve forward,
bottom to rear. Wear of mounting hardware, top-out & bottom-out bumpers
can exaggerate the contact points. Click on the images to the left for
recommendations to consider. The pics are from a CR250R, but they apply to
all bikes. In addition to cutting of swingarm and top mount, the down tube
in front of the top cap leading edge should be dimpled for clearance. On
show bikes with snug mount hardware, this may not be required as long as no one
sits on the bike and bottoms out the suspension. Finally, look for
possible rub from number plates or side panels.
Fox AirShox Owners Manual copy with revised
pressure chart. New Charts for the heavier four strokes and those of us who
have added a few pounds over the years. Updated SLR and oil quantity
chart. Includes specs for early single valve model.

Shaft Lock Nut,
all steel, cadmium plated, if you can seat yours by hand, it's time to replace
it before an accident happens, when servicing your Shoxs, the bottom corners and
edges need to be beveled or rounded off so they do not grab and rotate the
spring plate when tightening, Fox did not do this until later in the production,

Due to how even just a tiny sliver of metal can
puncture a bladder, Only bladders that I install are guaranteed. Please
see the photo of a rebuild from another shop I took apart, in my work, I always remove the air
valves for cleaning and resealing. Thoroughly clean shafts and lower cap,
inspect for sharp edges and burrs, obstructions in shaft ports, lightly coat
bladders with oil before installing.
